Overview

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) is a governmental organization in Nigeria dedicated to communicating government policies, promoting national unity, and fostering civic responsibility among citizens. Mission

The mission of the NOA is to consistently inform, educate, and sensitize Nigerians on government policies, programs, and activities, as well as to promote civic duties, national values, and patriotism.

Key Functions

  1. Public Enlightenment:
    • Informing and educating citizens on government policies, programs, and initiatives.
    • Disseminating information on national issues, civic duties, and public services.
    • Conducting public awareness campaigns on health, education, security, and environmental issues.
  2. Civic Education:
    • Promoting civic responsibilities and encouraging active participation in the democratic process.
    • Educating citizens on their rights and obligations under the constitution.
    • Organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs on civic education.
  3. National Unity and Integration:
    • Promoting national unity, integration, and peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and religious groups.
    • Conducting campaigns and activities that foster national cohesion and reduce divisive tendencies.
    • Celebrating and promoting Nigeria’s cultural diversity as a strength.
  4. Community Mobilization:

    • Facilitating dialogue between the government and communities to address local needs and concerns.
  5. Behavioral Change Communication:

Major Programs and Initiatives

  1. War Against Indiscipline (WAI):
    • Revival of the WAI campaign to promote discipline, orderliness, and respect for laws and regulations.
    • Public awareness and enforcement of ethical standards in public and private conduct.
  2. Voter Education Campaigns:
    • Educating citizens on the electoral process, voter registration, and the importance of voting.
    • Encouraging peaceful participation in elections and preventing electoral violence.
  3. National Re-Orientation Campaigns:
    • Campaigns aimed at re-orienting citizens towards positive values such as honesty, integrity, and patriotism.
    • Promoting the “Change Begins With Me” initiative to instill personal and collective responsibility.
  4. Health and Hygiene Campaigns:
