National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Overview:
- Establishment: The NYSC was established in 1973 by General Yakubu Gowon’s administration under Decree No. 24, now known as the NYSC Act.
- Purpose: To inculcate a sense of patriotism, national unity, and development among Nigerian youth.
- Eligibility: Graduates of universities and polytechnics in Nigeria who are under 30 years of age. Nigerian graduates from overseas institutions must also participate.
Key Objectives:

- Community Development Service (CDS): Corps members engage in community development projects such as health campaigns, environmental sanitation, adult education, and infrastructure development.
- Passing Out Parade (POP): At the end of the service year, corps members participate in a ceremonial parade, after which they receive a discharge certificate.
